Pukeroa & Pukehangi Sports Day 2017!
On Thursday 2nd March we held our Pukeroa & Pukehangi Sports Day. I was so proud of all of our C6 Superstars - so many fantastic 'give it a go' attitudes and encouraging each other. We certainly have some sporting talent in our class, with Egypt winning the boys 400m race, and Lotti winning the 400m girls race!

Superhero writing group
The Superhero writing group was remembering to use finger spacing in their writing today. They each had a picture and had to use 2 adjectives to describe the picture.

Sunflowers!
Sunflowers!
We have a science focus of 'living things' this year, so we decided to learn about sunflowers. Last week we planted our own seeds into a clear plastic cup so we can see the germination process. We learnt about soil and nutrients, how deep to plant the seed and how much water to give it. We also have planted seeds that we will give no water, and some seeds that will get no sunlight so we can see what happens to those seeds and compare them to our own that get what they need to live.
Then we learnt about what happens to the seed once it is planted - the germination process, so the students are eagerly awaiting to see the roots in the bottom of their cup. We read a book about the life cycle of the sunflower and then did an activity so we could all recall the process and put the steps into the right order.

Waitangi Day:
- We are learning about Waitangi Day
- We are learning where Waitangi is
- We are learning what things make New Zealand special.
We have been learning how to play our class maths games, this was snakes and ladders which was helping us count on from big numbers. Playing games also helps us learn about participating, contributing and playing fairly. We also had fun!
We are learning to be confident in the water!!

We will not be swimming in week 2, but we are in week 3 so please help your child remember to bring their named togs and towel.
